It's Go, Go, Go for Lights Out!

Lights Out is officially here.
It's been a long time coming, although I have always wanted to create a sports data journalism newsletter and publication dedicated to motorsport.
Motorsport is one of those areas that is tailor made for sports data journalism, like football, rugby union, cricket, golf and tennis. Naturally, motorsport is a data-driven sport, with telemetry and time predominantly used across various disciplines to understand the performance between the team and the drivers.
From superbikes to speedway, touring cars, single-seaters, rallying and classic car racing, I want to explore the numbers behind the people and machines. Lights Out offers a data-driven lens behind the wheel or handlebars for dedicated motorsport fans, as well as people who are new to the sport.
For the record, Lights Out won't cover just F1 data stories. I want Lights Out to be a motorsport data journalism publication that uses data to cover all forms of motor racing.
What's the plan for Lights Out?

I'll be publishing one data story a week, focusing on various motorsport series. One week, I might decide to focus on the World Rally Championship. The next week, F1 and vice versa.
What I want to do with Lights Out is showcase the diversity of national and international motorsport series by using data to bring those stories to life. If there is a discipline that hasn't been covered and you want us to use data to tell stories, please let me know!
Over time, I'd like to open Lights Out for commissions while the newsletter and publication expand. However, I'm focused on establishing Lights Out as the only place to get high-quality motorsport data stories that aren't covered anywhere in the motorsport media.
Will you need to subscribe to Lights Out to be a member?
Yes, you do. While I'll be making Lights Out free for the first few months, I'm going to incorporate a tiered subscription model, consisting of free and paid tiers.
The reason for this is I want to ensure I can deliver the best motorsport data journalism content for my readers. I want to ensure that Lights Out becomes a profitable publication, so that I can offer opportunities for journalists breaking into the industry to work in motorsport data journalism.
All the latest content I publish on Lights Out will be free across all tiers, including the archive. However, for more in-depth pieces, paid subscribers will get it first, before its sent to subscribers on the free tier later in the week.
Are you ready to experience a new wave of motorsport data journalism about to land in your inbox? Subscribe now to Lights Out and get ready to experience high-octane motorsport data content across F1, WRC, MotoGP, BTCC, British Superbikes and more!
